Botox at the dentist, really? You may ask…What makes a dentist qualified to administer Botox? This is a great question, and one I have been answering for my friends and family since I started using Botox in my practice. I guess it’s about time I post a blog about it!
In dental school, students are trained extensively on facial anatomy. They learn location and function of the muscles you use to chew, speak and express emotion. This knowledge is important for diagnosing and effectively completing most dental procedures like fillings, root canals, implants, even dentures. Basically everything a dentist does….including Botox!
The same knowledge is needed to properly inject Botox, whether it’s for treating teeth grinding, headaches caused by clenching or you simply want to reduce or eliminate wrinkles and smooth areas that have been bothering you.
While dentists receive this foundational knowledge in school, I have also obtained additional training through online lectures and hands-on clinics. I have received my certification through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, this continues to give me access to the most current information available.
Botox is fun, it’s a topic I love discussing with my patients! I started administering Botox at my previous practice and now I’m excited to offer it at Bergmann and Hohm!
